NLC Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities

As NLC celebrates its centennial milestone, we have hit the road for what we’re calling the “NLC Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities” to highlight our members, partners, and the transformative progress we’ve accomplished together.  During this journey, NLC aims to visit 100 cities, in-person and virtually, to spotlight the unique stories of municipalities and the invaluable relationships they’ve cultivated with NLC.

Where it All Started: Lawrence, Kansas The Centennial Roadshow kicked off in February 2024 from the birthplace of NLC

In December of 1924, ten state municipal leagues came together in Lawrence, Kansas a the the University of Kansas in Fraser Hall to create what is now known as the National League of Cities. To officially kick off the Roadshow, NLC traveled to the place where it all began. Check out the recap post on NLC’s CitiesSpeak blog and watch the recap video below documenting the historic trip that not only looked back on NLC’s history, but also celebrated the present and the future promise of local government.
